Dirt-Poor Beck Living In Shack
Beck has been busy recording his new album set for release in September, but the California hipster has also been exercising his acting chops, according to Pitchforkmedia. Video director Steven Hanft, who directed Beck’s ‘Loser’ and ‘Jack-ass’ videos, cast Beck as “a dirt poor punk living in a shack… recording surreal songs on cassette tapes and just being a tripper,” in his feature film called “Southlander.” The film also stars Ione Skye, Beth Orton, Elliot Smith and Hank Williams III. The plot revolves around a future world where music is illegal and musicians band together to swap equipment. “Southlander” screens in L.A. this week but there’s no word on whether it will reach us up north.
